    Sunday Emergency

Sundays are usually quiet affairs in the Muxxy household. I get a lie in, only to get woken up either by a dog, cat, or Kim bringing me a strong dose of caffeine to bring me round. As it’s the day before the first schoolday of the week, I spend a little time ironing the kids’ uniforms. Yes, despite the rough exterior, I am quite domesticated. Yesterday our son, who is nearly twelve, complained of a pain and had trouble walking properly. He went off to bed last night having taken some painkillers, and we said we would see how he was today. It’s not unheard of for him to…

    Humbled and Touched.

Today was my second day in Lanzarote on our annual family vacation. Several years ago while in Greece I took to snorkeling and spent as much time as I could in the sea. I visited a local shop here and just had to get myself a new mask and snorkel. Suitably equipped, I ventured out into the secluded spot between these sea walls. The water is very calm here and is teaming with fish. We have started taking bread to the beach for the kids to feed them, much to their delight. Mask adjusted, straps tightened, and with the snorkel in mouth, I entered the sea. Eventually, I explored ever…

    A Nightmare on Elm Street

Source I do my best not to be scared of many things. Sure, a recurring nightmare I have is spiders…flying spiders….not just regular old flying spiders, oh no. Flying spiders that spit fire. Yes, I kinda doubt that they will ever become a reality. Unless some mad scientist genetically engineers some, I don’t know. But, I digress… I mean, regular eight-legged hairy bastard creatures with multiple sets of eyes and pointy teeth are bad enough, but flying fire-breathing ones? Just, nope. Although I really do loathe the little buggers, I still have to play the hero and rescue my little girl from their evil stares, sat up in the corner…

A Wild Kubby This Way Comes

A few days ago I wrote about an expected visit from none other than the pink goddess and girl power queen @kubbyelizabeth. She had traveled to France for a wedding, popped over to London to meet up with @stickchumpion and then took on a four-hour train journey to meet the Muxxys. Her train was to arrive just before 11 pm and we had agreed to go pick her up from our local station, which is just five minutes away. As our car pulled up there she was: even in the darkness, her huge smile shone out across the carpark. I have spoken with Kubby for over twelve months and finally,…

My Life is About To Get More Pink

Source Whatever do I mean? Are the Muxxy’s expecting a child of the female variety? God, no! Have I binged on watching the Pink Panther? Newp. Am I suddenly embracing my girlish side? As if. Let me explain. Early on during my first tour of duty as an MSP moderator, @kubbyelizabeth burst onto the PAL server with demands that her username should be in pink. She caused a mini girl power revolution and the pink was bestowed upon her and other users. Ordinarily, such forceful characters would get my hackles up, but Kubby is such a funny, caring, helpful lady that you cannot help but love her. She is a…
